This page is for the resources that I find interesting and useful throughout my project.

This source was suggested to me by djmahoney and I've read through the first two posts and find them extremely interesting because they tell a story and offer insight into training and why a person might train.

I watched this video awhile back and it is very motivational and intense. It shows just how intense Kyokushin Karate is, and also highlights differences between Seido Karate and Kyokushin Karate.

Nakamura, Tadashi. One Day, One Lifetime: An Illustrated Guide to the Spirit, Practice, and
Philosophy of Seido Karate Meditation. New York: World Seido Karate Organization,
1992. Print.

Kaicho Nakamura's meditation book has been very useful to me throughout this project as it is filled with wisdom and knowledge and examples of practical applications of them.

Nakamura, Tadashi. Karate Kyohon. Tokyo: Shufunotomo, 2001. Print.

Karate Kyohon  goes into great depth describing the details of techniques and kata.

Miyamoto, Musashi. The Book of Five Rings. Trans. William Scott Wilson. Boston: Shambhala
Publications, 2012. Print.

Miyamoto’s work will be very applicable to the research aspect of my project. To some extent, I will be able to apply his work to my physical training as well since he describes how to win and how to fight.

Cardillo, Joseph. Be Like Water: Practical Wisdom from the Martial Arts. New York: Warner, 2003. Print.

Cardillo's writings about how to apply the wisdom that one learns in martial arts to everyday situations has been an invaluable tool for me to change the way I behave in uncomfortable situations, the manner in which I address complicated or sensitive problems, and even has helped me think about how to improve my Karate.

This website contains all the information that I used in my research about Masutatsu Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate.

Nakamura, Tadashi, and Tom Grill. Karate: Technique and Spirit. Tokyo, Japan: Shufunotomo, 1986. Print.

This book goes into great detail about many aspects of Seido Karate.
